We would like to emphasize that these patients can have their oral health compromised for several reasons, so special attention must be paid to their personal care, since some types of disability are associated with a higher frequency of oral diseases:
Caries,
Gum disease,
Dental trauma,
Malocclusions,
Dental anomalies,
That is why we insist that prevention in people who suffer from some kind of disability is doubly important:
-On the one hand, because the risk of suffering oral pathologies is higher than in the general population;
-On the other hand, because it avoids possible dental treatments, which, if necessary, are usually more complex.
It is therefore necessary that they eat a healthy diet, that they maintain good oral hygiene -if necessary, with help- and that they visit the dentist regularly.
